Paul’s inspiration for his ‘Urban Series’ was spawned during the years that he lived and worked from his narrow boat ‘Fools Paradise?’ whilst he traversed the Inland Waterways of Britain. This particular piece is very reminiscent of scenes that he would have observed.
The title itself takes reference from the fact that graffiti artists have their own ‘Tags’ and this couple of Canada Geese do indeed look as though they are ‘tagging’ along together on the detritus filled towpath. Paul has created the littered bottles to relate to the subject matter. This is a vibrant piece that shows Paul’s mastery of textures and detail to the fullest extent. It would sit well alongside ‘Urban Dwellers’ another of the Urban collection depicting Canada Geese.
