After the success of ‘Urban Gorilla’ Paul intended to continue this topic by painting an orang-utan or another of the great apes in a similar urban backdrop. To familiarise himself with the subject Paul started to sketch out this piece but without the head scratching hand. However he decided it didn’t look quite right so he added the hand and then, as sometimes happens with the creative process it occurred to him that the orang-utan was thinking about something – almost as if he was considering his next move in a game of chess. Your move!
