Neil Carroll is a self-taught artist from London who has been painting in oils since 2011. His journey into art was shaped by a lifelong desire to paint, finally realized when he transitioned to a full-time artist in 2017. Neil's work focuses on atmosphere, texture, and mood, stripping away unnecessary details to create captivating, impressionistic pieces.

"I don't set out to paint what is in front of me. I try to create something with atmosphere and interest based on the subject."

Neil Carroll's artistic journey began later in life, fueled by a desire to paint that persisted despite the demands of real-life commitments. In 2011, he began painting in oils, and by 2017, Neil had fulfilled his ambition of becoming a full-time artist.

 

Neil's work is characterized by its evocative atmosphere, achieved through the interplay of light, shadow, and texture. Rather than reproducing reality, he aims to distill his subjects into their most essential and intriguing forms. This process of abstraction allows viewers to connect with the emotional essence of his paintings, whether they depict urban scenes, landscapes, or other inspirations.

 

In 2014, one of Neil's paintings was selected for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Since then, Neil has continued to develop his unique style, painting broadly and boldly, guided by his creative mood.

 

Neil Carroll’s paintings are a testament to his belief that less can often convey more. By removing unnecessary details, he creates works that invite viewers to step into their own interpretations, evoking a sense of intrigue and connection.
