My work predominantly focuses on portraiture & the human figure, both of which have intrigued and challenged me for as long as I can remember. It’s that intrigue, and sometimes frustration, that constantly drives me to push further and explore.
For me, paint, and the many ways it can be used to create form and shape, is just as much a part of the work as the subject itself. Trying to describe the human form while exploring beauty and physicality of the paint is what fascinates the most.
In my paintings I am trying to create an essence of a person, or a moment in time, rather than a specific story or concept, and then leave it open for the viewer to interpret. This is something that I love particularly about figurative and portraiture work; its ability to take on a personality of its own
